This past weekend, Grubido had the joy of showcasing The Art of Fufu at Houston Africa Day 2025, a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of African culture, flavor, and community. Set in the heart of the city, the event welcomed food lovers, families, and cultural enthusiasts to experience the richness of African heritage.

Founder Kavachi Ukegbu hosted an engaging fufu making demo, teaching guests how to roll, dip, and swallow many for the first time. It was more than just a tasting; it was an introduction to tradition, history, and connection through food.

The celebration drew a wide range of community members, including leaders like Congressman Jonathan Jackson, who not only sampled fufu but also purchased a copy of The Art of Fufu Cookbook to continue learning about African food culture. Other local council members also joined in and enjoyed their first experience with fufu, a true moment of cultural exchange.

Guests were also treated to flavorful dishes from Angola, highlighting the diverse culinary landscape across the African continent. The event reminded us that food is one of the most powerful ways to tell stories and build bridges between people and cultures.

We’ve included photos from the event that capture the smiles, flavors, and festive moments that made the day so special. It was an afternoon of joy, learning, and community connection and Grubido was proud to be a part of it.

Special thanks to Asha Strategies for inviting us to join this meaningful celebration. As always, we look forward to sharing more unforgettable food experiences that honor African traditions.
